OCT: Optical coherence tomography

Oakridge Optometry Clinic has brought in a new state of the art instrument that can take images of the retina and the optic nerve.  Similar to an ultrasound, this instrument allows the optometrist to see underlying problems that sometimes cannot be detected with a microscope during the exam.  It is also a tool that is used to monitor glaucoma, a progressive sight-threatening eye condition.

Routine Eye Health Exams

Studies have shown that 1 in 7 people who get their eyes examined have an asymptomatic eye disease (with no noticeable symptoms to the patient).  At Oakridge Optometry Clinic, we become advocates for our patients by encouraging routine eye examinations.

Children’s Eye Exams

Our optometrists perform eye examinations on children starting at the age of 6 months.  From there, we recommend yearly check-ups to ensure the proper growth and development of the eyes.   The foundation for good vision is established during the first 2 years of life and therefore it is imperative that parents bring their children in to catch any eye conditions that may develop.  At Oakridge Optometry Clinic, there is no additional charge for children’s exams as they are fully covered under MSP.

INMODE Forma Radiofrequency treatment (RF) for dry eye disease

Dry eye syndrome (DES) affects  up to 50% of the population.

It occurs when the quantity or quality of the tears is compromised, and the eyes are unable to receive the nourishment and protection they need to remain healthy and hydrated.

80% of dry eye cases are caused by meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).
